You’re Just Like Your Dad”
How many times have we said that phrase, accompanied by varying facial expressions and tones? Perhaps for you, it’s a reference to characteristics of other family members—granddad, yourself, or a sibling. Of course, I’m referring to more than just the color of your child’s eyes or hair.
The words we speak create pictures, life, or death, and maybe even ceilings on what we expect our children to grow up to be and achieve. We ask God to pour down blessings from heaven, but perhaps we have created a glass ceiling that is hindering those blessings and the power of God from reaching our kids.
I wonder what we would say if we saw each child from God’s heavenly perspective. What would it be like if we were parenting a Joseph, a child born to save nations? What if your child is a Daniel, destined to influence governments and live in a foreign land?
Imagine if, in your home, you are raising a Paul, Moses, Deborah, Esther, or John the Baptist (he had severe dietary requirements). What words would we speak over our children, knowing God’s plans and purposes for them? How would we invest in their future? What friendship groups would you try to form to support your child? God is doing something amazing with children, as He has always desired.
Words Can Create a Ceiling or an Opening.

He constantly wants to share secrets with your children, showing, telling, and giving to them every day, not just at a church meeting. I recently heard a prophetic declaration that “God is lowering the age of a prophet”. Whilst those are the literal words spoken, I wonder if it’s children who are being raised to hear and receive from Him and now they are released to soar as He has designed and intended.
Remember the verse, that the Kingdom of God belongs to children, not just some parts of His Kingdom, but all of it. Do you encourage your children to explore all He has to show them from His Kingdom? By our prayers, we can lift off the ceilings over children in our households, schools, churches, and families. A life without limits with a full outpouring and receiving all God has for each child, what a nation we will have.
